Posy Dishes

Classical Footed Vessels & Contemporary Botanical Paintings

Welcoming visitors to stay with a hand-picked garden posy set in a small footed dish is a quiet gesture passed down through generations of my family. It is a heartfelt token of welcome—a habit learned from my Mama and Grandma that turns an ordinary guest room into a sanctuary.

As a child, stepping through the front door of my grandma's mid-century home meant entering a treasure trove of collected travel mementoes. Near the entrance sat a wide, footed vessel adorned with classical motifs and galloping horses. That memory, combined with a chance encounter with Winifred Nicholson's writing on the "tremor of pleasure" found in painting flowers, became the catalyst for this 16-piece paper collection.
